This guide describes the access and permisions of different roles users have when interacting with projects on the WildObs Platform.

Role descriptions

Description
AdminThis role is reserved for platform technical staff.
Principal investigatorPerson responsible for the project. Has access to all sections within a project.
Project coordinatorDaily manager of the project. Typically handles users and oversees processing. Access all sections except export data.
Taxonomic expertAn expert at identifying animals who will validate or correct observations entered by other users. No access to project settings, sampling management, user management and export data.
Photo processorCan upload new deployments, annotate sequences and browse deployments assigned to the user.
VolunteerCan annotate already imported deployments but not upload new material or browse deployments.
View onlyCan only view deployments, sequences and annotations in the project but not change anything.
DummyThis role is assigned to user accounts that are automatically generated when a nonregistered user is used as an attribute of a deployment. For example, a field technician that doesn’t use the platform but did set up the camera.

Awaiting access

When a registered user request access to a project, but this request was not yet accepted or rejected.
